Essential Science Indicators: (ESI) is an analytical database established by Clarivate Analytics based on the collection and analysis of scientific literature and the references cited in the Web of Science Core Collection (SCI/SSCI) in the past ten years. ESI covers more than 12 million literature resources in more than 12,000 journals worldwide.

ESI can reveal influential countries, institutions, papers and journals, as well as research frontiers in a certain research field. It helps researchers analyze international scientific literature in a targeted manner, so as to understand the development and influence of target researchers, research institutions, countries/regions and academic journals in a certain subject area, analyze the paper output and influence of institutions, countries and journals.
